"I just want to thank you Ms. Nicole for the Stepping in the Right Direction Tour that you took me on. If it weren’t for you I probably wouldn’t be going to Tuskegee right now . But I am proud to be a golden tiger and I thank you for doing what you’re doing and just giving youth an opportunity to get new experiences."

"My name is Karrington Ballenger and I am a dean’s list scholar at the illustrious Clark Atlanta University. Prior to my attendance at Princeton’s named “Best School in the Southeast,” I was a mediocre scholar at King/Drew Medical Magnet High School. Once attending the Stepping in the Right Direction Black College Tour my junior year in high school, I gained the urge to end High School on a better note so I could attend one of the great HBCU’s we visited throughout the week. The tour exposed me to black excellence, and students striving to make it in the world not only for themselves but for students to come. Campuses that catered to the history of my people, and tour guides that ensured that we knew all that was needed to survive and strive on a college campus. Without the Stepping in the Right Direction Black College tour I would not be the scholar I am today, nor would I have the confidence that I can “Find a way or make one,” in any situation, thanks to my University. I recommend this tour for any student, of any race, even if you don’t choose to attend an HBCU it will expose you to a world that will change you forever."

"My name is Raymond Capers. I live In the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York. Last year I was blessed with the opportunity to go on the Stepping In The Right Direction HBCU tour. The tour gave me a chance to meet students from the schools who would give honest perspectives on the school and also give you advice about how they adjust to college life. Also we got to see first hand what college students participate in during the school year. The tour and all the wonderful staff that made this tour for us students, are responsible for helping me find the school of my choice which is Tuskegee University. I will be attending the university in August 2014 and I am thankful for the experiences that the tour exposed me to."

"First, I would like thank Nicole and Stepping In The Right Direction for opening my eyes to HBCUs, because if I had not gone on the tour I probably would have never even thought about them. 3 years ago I went on the HBCU tours, and fell in love with HOWARD UNIVERSITY. I loved the campus and the atmosphere. Ever since then thats where I wanted to go, and this year I’m a senior and applied. Being so blessed, I was accepted and also got an athletic scholarship for track & field. I am so blessed for all the accomplishments I achieved so far, and many more to come in the future."

"My name is Teana Jenkins and I attended the Stepping in the Right Direction Black College Tour my junior year in high school and stumbled across the best university I have ever known. Stepping foot on Tuskegee University’s campus was a blessing and I knew right away that there was no other place for me. Five Years later i am now a graduate from the illustrious Tuskegee University and would have it no other way. I Graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology CLASS OF 2014!!!"
